Today I took my daughter to see an endocrinologist. They talked with us about her options for gender affirming care. She very much does not want to go through a “male” puberty. The option the doctor recommends is a puberty pausing (blocking) implant (!) that will last until she is about 13 at which time she can start taking hormones so she can go through female puberty.

She is going to get a blood test done this weekend to make sure her hormone levels are appropriate to do the implant. You don’t want to do it before your hormone levels are rising or you might have to get it re-done before you start hormone therapy.

My daughter is very excited about becoming a gender affirming cyborg.

Once all is said and done she will enter adulthood looking and sounding like a cis woman. Pausing puberty and then doing hormone therapy before the cis gender puberty starts gives her a lot that you just can’t do (without surgery, voice training, laser hair removal, and so on) if you do go through the cis puberty and then start hormones after.

I’m very proud of her for letting herself be super uncomfortable and putting up with all this so that she can do what she needs to be the woman she wants to be. :)
